Background Positive Perspective were approached to design and deliver a package of stress management, personal development programmes. These programmes Managing Personal Stress and Managing Team Stress were to be located within their internal "Structured Training and Effectiveness Programme" (STEP).
Managing personal stress has been successfully delivered quarterly over the past 3 years with very positive feedback. Between 8 to 10 employees attend each of the one-day (with half day follow up) courses
Content The programme covers the following topics:
Awareness - what stress is, how it affects us and why it needs to be managed.
The link between our thinking and our behaviours.
Personality factors that contribute to higher stress levels
Management strategies before, during and after a stressful event
Relaxation techniques
Practical exercises that can be built into each individual's action plan
Outcomes Participants are able to:
Recognise that stress management and Life Balance reflects a positive attitude to life.
Identify individual sources of pressure and their implications.
Recognise the importance of being in control - and identifying individual sources of control.
Understand the patterns of response - both their own and other people's
Build a personal plan for a healthier lifestyle.
The programme is highly participative and practical using a variety of individual and group exercises and discussions. It is always held in a relaxed atmosphere, and great sensitivity is applied to individual needs. A most conducive learning environment.
