Management Development Foundation Course -
The original brief given by the IT consulting firm had been to address some internal communication issues, and it was intended that a course be developed for delivery to the company's first line managers. However, the feedback from the pre-course research exercises highlighted some interesting facts, and a much wider implication was identified, and presented to the board. Communications being a 2-way process, it became very clear that to solve the problem effectively, together with a number of cultural issues which had been identified, it would be necessary to deliver the training not only to the first line managers, but also the second line managers, and the board as well. A presentation was delivered to the board outlining the course proposals, and Positive Perspective successfully developed and delivered a course, which satisfied all the criteria. Following this experience, it was easy for Positive Perspective to see how a similar course would also benefit Interserve FM , although it was necessary for Mike Applegarth and Keith Posner to adapt and remodel the original course content, to include more emphasis on change management. A series of 2-day Management Development Foundation Courses with a 1-day follow-up course is currently being rolled out to over 300 of Interserve FM's managers and directors. Following the 2-day course, each graduate is given an Action Plan applicable to their own particular working environment, which provides an opportunity for them to demonstrate how they have applied aspects of what they have learnt. The Action Plans and their success or failure, is subsequently analysed during the 1-day follow-up courses Feedback: "the consultant conveyed an enthusiasm for his subject, and a commitment to helping Interserve FM achieve its goals and objectives." |
