Background
In 2005 Positive Perspective were approached to design and deliver Stress
Management Briefings to all line managers at Travelers Insurance.
The Briefings were 3.5 hours in length and have been successfully delivered to over 60 managers in Redhill and London over the last 3 months with very positive feedback. Between 8 to 10 managers attended each of the interactive half day briefings.
Content:
The programme covers the following topics:
- Awareness - what stress is, how it affects us and why it needs to be managed.
- The link between our thinking and our behaviours.
- Current Case law and Statistics of stress.
- Management strategies before, during and after a stressful event. What is work and what is home pressure?
- Risk assessment Tool to identify key individuals within the manager's team
- Practical exercises that can be used to support intervention at the earliest stage.
Outcomes:
Participants are able to:
- Recognise that stress management and Life Balance reflects a positive attitude to life
- The link between our thinking and our behaviours.
- Recognise the risks and which risks will come from home or work
- Understand the patterns of response - both their own and their team.
- Identify those who need attention whether or not they have the most or least 'air time' within the team.
The programme is highly participative and practical using a variety of individual and group exercises and discussions. It is always held in a relaxed atmosphere, and great sensitivity is applied to individual needs. A most conducive learning environment
